Factory Extension – Portbury

Project Scale & Design

The extension was a substantial undertaking, measuring approximately 40 metres in height and extending 520 metres in length. To meet all performance and compliance requirements, a team of four designers was tasked with developing comprehensive construction drawings. The design process was a collaborative effort involving:

  • Architectural design
  • Structural steelwork
  • Mechanical & electrical coordination

Working to a structured BIM Execution Plan (BEP), the design team produced a total of 364 drawings to support accurate and efficient delivery of the project.

Construction & Materials

A range of high-performance materials and systems were installed to ensure the durability, safety, and efficiency of the extension:

  • Roof and wall cladding systems provided a robust and weather-resistant external envelope.
  • Insulated gutter systems contributed to effective water management.
  • Rooflights enhanced natural lighting to support energy efficiency and internal working conditions.
